Kappara: Removal of the central strip

In the coming days, Kappara contractor will remove the central strip in Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli.  Works will commence today after 20:30hrs. During the night, road will be on reduced lanes in both directions. During the day, one lane will be closed direction to Imsida, at times.

To avoid complete road closure and inconvenience, the central strip will be removed in a sequence of stretches. During works on the central strip, the existing electricity poles will also be shifted. This means that a separate traffic plan will not be required to dismantle the electricity poles.

Transport Malta reminds that Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli is a construction site. Drivers are encouraged to  abide to the restricted speed limit of 30km/hr, follow temporary signs and respect workers on site.  We also encourage drivers to visit news.transport.gov.mt to get familiar with alternative routes and avoid the area.

Kappara: Works in Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli

As part of the investigations on the foundation material and Enemalta cable works, the contractor responsible for the Kappara project will excavate trial pits in parts of Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli. 

Works will be carried out tomorrow between 09:00hrs and 12:30hrs.  During works, one lane from the roundabout direction to Paceville will be closed to traffic but vehicles can proceed on the other lanes. 

This is a construction site. Drive with caution, follow temporary traffic signs and officials’ instructions when going through this area. 

We encourage drivers to visit news.transport.gov.mt to get familiar with alternative routes and avoid the area.

Works in Triq Santu Wistin Paceville

Transport Malta and a private entity will be carrying out work in Triq Santu Wistin Paceville between Monday 15th February and Friday 19th February.

Access to the centre of Paceville will be from Triq Elija Zammit or Triq Sant’Andrija.  Traffic from Pembroke via  St. George’s Bay will be diverted onto Triq Dragonara.  Access to car park at the Intercontinental Hotel will be available.

Construction Works in Sliema

Part of Triq Nicoló Isouard, between Triq Depiro and Triq Norfolk in Tas Sliema, will be closed to traffic tomorrow 21 August between 07:00hrs and 13:00hrs for safety reasons. Construction works will be carried out on site and road will be closed for safety reasons.

Vehicular traffic from Triq Nicoló Isouard will be diverted onto Triq Depiro and onto Triq Adrian Dingli.

Feast Celebration –  The Assumption of Our Lady’s feast in Mosta

On Sunday 9th August 2015, a musical program will take place in Pjazza Rotunda Mosta in connection with the feast celebration of The Assumption of Our Lady.

Since the main square will be closed to traffic, vehicles and public transport will be diverted as follows:

Traffic from St. Paul\’s Bay to Mosta centre, will be diverted onto Tarġa Gap or onto Triq id-Diviża Ċivili between 15:00hrs and midnight.

Traffic from Triq il-Kbira Mosta to Triq il-Kostituzzjoni may only proceed direction to St Paul’s Bay between 15:00hrs and 19:00hrs

Traffic from Triq il-Kbira to Mosta centre will be diverted onto Vjal L-Indipendenza between 19:00hrs and midnight. Triq il- Kbira will be closed to traffic.

Traffic from Triq il-Kbira Naxxar will be diverted onto Triq il-Kungress Ewkaristiku from 15:00hrs onwards.

Night run by the Żurrieq Wolves Athletic Club

Żurrieq Wolves Athletic Club will be organising a 10km night run in Triq L-Imdina Ħaż-Żebbuġ today 7th August between 20:30hrs and 22:30hrs.

Part of  Triq L-Imdina between the roundabout near St. Dorothy’s School and the roundabout near it-Telgħa tas-Saqqajja will be closed to traffic.

Vehicular traffic coming from Triq L-Imdina Ħaż-Żebbuġ towards ir-Rabat will be diverted onto Triq Ħ’Attard and Triq L-Imdina Ħ’Attard.

Vehicular traffic coming from ir-Rabat or St Paul’s Bay towards Ħal Qormi will be diverted onto Triq L-Imdina Ħ’Attard and Triq Ħ’Attard to reach Triq L-Imdina Ħaż-Żebbuġ.

Water Main in Ħ\’Attard

Laying of water main in Triq L-Imdina Ħ’Attard by the Water Services Corporation

Works on the laying of water main by the Water Services Corporation will continue in Triq L-Imdina Ħ’Attard as from today 3rd August at 20:00hrs.

No road closure will take place.  Road will be fully accessible to traffic by 06:00hrs on Tuesday 4 August 2015.

Motorists are advised to proceed with caution. Any inconvenience is regretted.

Coast Road Closure

Transport Malta regrets the inconvenience caused with the closure of the Coast Road.  The issues this morning highlight the importance of the Coast Road and hence our commitment to upgrade it.

This part of the Coast Road had to be closed completely.  This road closure will improve the deadline by around three weeks and will avoid future total closures in more critical times.

Two layers of asphalt, 120mm in all, are being applied to the highest European standard.   Traffic cannot pass on the binder course.  Works and asphalting continued during the night yesterday. 

Transport Malta urges drivers to avoid the area and use alternative routes, through Mġarr Bypass, Mosta and Birkirkara.

Transport Malta is vigilant on the working contractors, who are collaborating fully. Works are on schedule and the road will be open again on Friday morning.

Avoid the Coast Road

Triq il-Kosta between Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq and Triq Martin Luther King are closed for traffic from today till Friday 31 July at 05:00hrs.

Transport Malta urges motorists to avoid the area.

There is no access to Triq il-Kosta from Pembroke. Please use routes from Birkirkara, Mosta or Mġarr Bypass.

A Traffic accident this morning that occurred at Tal-Balal area has created additional strain on the traffic situation on the approaches to and from Coast Road.

Cycling event organised by Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club

Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club in collaboration with the Malta Cycling Federation will be organizing a cycling event on Sunday 26 July 2015 in Triq L-Imdina Ħaż Żebbuġ.

Triq L-Imdina, from the roundabout near St. Dorothy’s School to the roundabout near it-Telgħa tas-Saqqajja, will be closed to vehicular traffic between 07:00hrs and 10:00hrs.

Vehicular traffic proceeding from Ħal Qormi to Rabat will be diverted onto Triq Ħ’Attard to Triq L-Imdina. Vehicular traffic proceeding from Rabat or Mosta to Ħaż-Żebbuġ will be diverted onto Triq L-Imdina Ħ’Attard to reach Triq Ħ’Attard.
