Vehicles coming from Sliema Road Gżira can, from tomorrow, access Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli. This access was closed since the start of the Kappara Project. Major works on the East side of Kappara Project have been completed and drivers can start availing themselves of the newly constructed stretch of road.
Reconstruction of Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli
Transport Malta will start reconstructing the upper part of Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli. For a few metres, traffic from Reggie Miller to the South Bound sliproad will proceed on one lane.
Vehicles coming from Regional Road or from Triq Reggie Miller can no longer use the crossing towards San Ġwann. They need to turn at the Skate Park Junction or use alternative routes.
Kappara junction remains a construction site, drive carefully, follow signs and keep to the 30Km/h speed limit.
The Kappara Project contractor will be doing works on the structure beneath Wied Għollieqa Bridge. Works will start tomorrow at 08:30 and is expected to be completed on Friday. For worker’s safety, vehicles going towards St. Julian’s, from Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli, will go through one lane instead of two as usual. Both lanes will be open during the morning rush hour
The road is a construction site and appeal drivers to drive within the speed, follow traffic signs and official’s instructions.
Transport Malta will be resurfacing parts of Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli tonight.
Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli, from Triq Reggie Miller to Santa Venera tunnels, will be closed between 21:00 and 05:00 towards Valletta.
Vehicles will go through Triq Reggie Miller, to Rue D’Argens and ix-Xatt, Ta’ Xbiex.
The road will remain open in the direction towards Paceville.

Transport Malta held another Kappara Project stakeholder meeting on Wednesday. Kappara Project Leader Antoinette Conti gave an overview of the tasks accomplished so far and the programme of works for the coming weeks.
Local Councils, various entities and other stakeholders asked questions, discussed and gave suggestions mostly on traffic management.
Kappara Contractor will intensify works at street level next week.
