On Monday 4th September, the Moorings Office of Transport Malta moved, from its location for the past years in Marsa, to Transport Malta’s new premises in Triq Pantar, Ħal Lija.
Transport Malta shared its offices in Marsa with the European Asylum Support Office (EASO). The European Commission wanted to expand the role of the support office into a fully-fledged asylum agency, increasing its complement of workers from less than 100 to over 500. The Maltese Government and Transport Malta totally supported this decision and opted to support the expansion as much as possible, as it will be of great benefit for Malta. EASO will keep its headquarters in Marsa and will lease the part of the building which until now is occupied by different directorates of Transport Malta.
Following a competitive request for proposals, Transport Malta chose a building in Triq Pantar Ħal Lija, which is large enough to host the Corporate Services Directorate, The Merchant Shipping Directorate, The Ports and Yachting Directorate, currently situated in Marsa and also the Roads and Infrastructure Directorate, situated in Santa Venera. The modern building in Ħal Lija will provide a better working environment for all Transport Malta personnel and greatly improve the experience of our visiting clients.
The Moorings office is the first to move from Marsa to Ħal Lija. Other offices will be following in the coming weeks until the whole part of the building occupied by Transport Malta is vacated.
