Logistics Issues in Valletta – a workshop

With a surface area of 0.8km2 hosting 900 local businesses and the largest pedestrianised zone in Malta, Valletta poses a challenge for logistics.

These challenges were discussed at a workshop organized by Transport Malta in conjunction with the Valletta Local Council.

Representatives from local courier services, business and retail discussed possible solutions to be tested in the Valletta area, including the set-up of a small feeder hub, last mile delivery with electric vehicles or cargo bikes and possible sea links.

These suggestions shall be incorporated into the Sustainable Urban Logistics Plan (SULP) being compiled for the city of Valletta as part of the CIVITAS DESTINATIONS project.
