Kappara Project commenced back in April with the removal of the Palm Trees. Since then, the works on the National Pool Complex side of the road have progressed immensely.
Engineers extracted land cores and tested the solidity of newly revealed ground. Most of the building for the project involves concrete. The Engineers thus tested concrete samples to make sure of consistency and durability throughout.
Workers laid the foundations for the huge walls while Transport Malta resurfaced key routes identified as alternatives during the ongoing work. In the meantime, personnel formed huge precast walls in a factory in Ta’ Qali. They transported the walls and put in them in place on site in Kappara. The crew passed cables and other services through the purposely created service tunnels and erected the piers that will eventually hold the bridge.
