Preparing for the installation of Mrieħel Bridge

Transport Malta will be installing the bridge at Mrieħel bypass in the coming days.  Tonight between 02:00hrs and 05:00hrs of Saturday, gantries between Ħal Far and Imrieħel will be removed in preparation to transport the bridge between the two localities.  During the three hours at night, traffic in Triq Aldo Moro in Marsa will be diverted through Triq Troubridge and Triq Prinċep Albertu

Transportation and installation of the bridge will be carried out in the coming days.  Details will be announced later.

Whilst apologising for the inconvenience, we ask drivers to seek alternative routes and follow instructions by officials on site.

Regional Road partly closed for two hours tonight

 

 

Tonight after 22:00hrs, Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli, from the tunnels of Regional Road to the Kappara roundabout and the sliproad near the skatepark direction to Paceville, will be closed for approximately two hours.  A crane will be operating in the area.

 

During the road closure, traffic will be diverted onto Birkirkara bypass.

 

Drivers are advised to drive carefully and to follow instructions by officials on site.

Following works on the storm water system, workers will use a crane once more to pick up the machinery.  For safety reasons, Triq Għajn Tuffieħa in Mġarr will be closed between 03:00 and 05:00 tonight.

Mosta Road, direction Lija closed

Mosta Road, direction Lija closed due to damage in WSC\’s system

A WSC water main pipe in Mosta Road Lija broke and caused the road to collapse .  The carriageway from Mosta towards Lija had to be closed off for safety reasons.

Transport Malta urges drivers to avoid the area and use alternative routes from Naxxar and Ta’ Qali until WSC carries out the repairs.

Public Transport is not going to be affected

Access to Dock 7 and the Tidal Lane during Summer

Vehicle access through Dock 7 will be closed from tomorrow 8th July at 19:00hrs since the construction of the Mediterranean Maritime Hub now enters a new phase.  

Meanwhile, in order to maximise the efficiency of the Tidal Lane, Transport Malta is changing the transition time of the Tidal Lane to cater for the season’s working hours. Transition time is as follows:

  • Sunday to Thursday at 21:00hrs lane direction will change direction to Valletta; having three lanes going towards Valletta and one lane direction to Paola
  • Mondays only at 14:30hrs lane direction will change direction to Paola; having two lanes towards Valletta and two lanes towards Paola 
  • From Tuesday to Friday at 13:00hrs lane direction will change direction to Paola; having two lanes towards Valletta and two lanes towards Paola 

The tidal lane is a system that changes the traffic direction of a lane  to maximise the capacity of the road.

Kappara: Removal of the central strip

In the coming days, Kappara contractor will remove the central strip in Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli.  Works will commence today after 20:30hrs. During the night, road will be on reduced lanes in both directions. During the day, one lane will be closed direction to Imsida, at times.

To avoid complete road closure and inconvenience, the central strip will be removed in a sequence of stretches. During works on the central strip, the existing electricity poles will also be shifted. This means that a separate traffic plan will not be required to dismantle the electricity poles.

Transport Malta reminds that Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli is a construction site. Drivers are encouraged to  abide to the restricted speed limit of 30km/hr, follow temporary signs and respect workers on site.  We also encourage drivers to visit news.transport.gov.mt to get familiar with alternative routes and avoid the area.

Maintenance of Storm Water Systems at t’Alla w Ommu Hill

Maintenance will be carried out on the Storm Water System at t’Alla w Ommu Hill between Wednesday 20th January at 10:00hrs and Sunday 31st January 2016 in the evening.

Road will be completely closed to traffic in both directions. Access will be given to residents and field owners from between the junction with Triq Santa Marija and the Coast Road. Motorists are advised to use the Coast Road, Triq Burmarrad and alternative routes.

Drivers are to follow the signs and instructions by officials on site.

Part of Triq Paola (in front of Band Club) closed between 09:00hrs and noon

 

Construction works will be carried out at the Annunciation Band Club Ħal Tarxien tomorrow 19th January 2016

Part of Triq Paola between Triq ix-Xintill and Triq il-Kbira,  will be completely closed to traffic between 09:00hrs and noon.

Public transport will be diverted onto Triq tal-Barrani to Triq Ħal Luqa.

Road Asphalting at Vjal il-Ħaddiem ir-Rabat

Road Maintenance in Vjal il-Ħaddiem ir-Rabat

Maintenance work in Vjal il-Ħaddiem ir-Rabat will be ready in the coming days. Laying of hot asphalt binder will be carried out between Monday 18 and Wednesday 20 January 2016.

During these three days, the road will be closed to traffic in both directions between 09:00hrs and 18:00hrs. Vehicular traffic including public transport will be diverted onto Triq Għeriexem.

On Monday, the road will be closed from Nigret roundabout to Triq il-Fidloqqom.  On Tuesday and Wednesday the road will be closed from Triq il-Fidloqqom to Triq Ħal Bajjada.

If possible avoid the area during these times.  Drivers are to follow the signs and instructions by officials on site.
