Maintenance Work on Slip Road in Triq Diċembru 13

The slip road from Triq Diċembru 13 to Ħamrun By-Pass, will be closed to vehicular traffic between Wednesday 1st April 2015 at 21:00hrs and Thursday 2nd April 2015 at 06:00hrs, due to resurfacing works.

Vehicular traffic coming from Triq Diċembru 13 will be diverted onto Triq it-Tiġrija, in front of Marsa Park & Ride and will proceed towards the roundabout of Triq Manwel Dimech in Ħal Qormi.  Traffic may also proceed directly from Triq Diċembru 13 to Ħamrun centre.


Resurfacing of Triq Toni Bajada in St. Paul’s Bay

Triq Toni Bajada in St. Paul’s Bay will be resurfaced between Wednesday 1st April 2015 at 17:00hrs and Friday 3rd April 2015 at 06:00hrs.  During this period the road will be closed for traffic.

All vehicular traffic coming from Triq il-Mosta to Dawret il-Gżejjer will be diverted onto Triq il-Knisja.  All vehicular traffic coming from Triq Buġibba will be diverted onto Triq Bordino, onto Triq Aristarkus, ontoTriq il-Villeġġjatura and onto Triq il-Mosta.

Public Transport:

Bus route 21 coming from Sliema towards Buġibba will be diverted at the traffic lights of Kennedy Grove onto Triq il- Pijunieri, onto Triq Ġulju, onto Triq Sant’Antnin and onto Triq il-Plajja ta’ Bognor as per route 31.

Bus route 45 coming from Burmarrad towards Buġibba will be diverted at  the roundabout of Burmarrad, proceed towards the traffic lights, onto Triq Pijunieri, onto Triq Ġulju, onto Triq Sant’Antnin and onto Triq il-Plajja ta’ Bognor as per route 31.

There are no diversions for the return journey.

Regatta

The National Regatta will be held tomorrow, Tuesday 31st March, at the Grand Harbour.  Transport Malta’s Port and Yachting Directorate has issued a Notice to Mariners with the location of buoys and lines which will be placed for the said event.

Incoming vessels will not be allowed to proceed to any berth South West of a line joining Lascaris and Fort St. Angelo Flagstaff.  Small vessels in ‘The Marsa’ will not be allowed to proceed beyond the starting line after 08:00. No vessel will be allowed near the finishing line except those involved in the races.  No movements of vessels will be allowed inside Grand Harbour, except by special permission. All vessels are to keep a minimum distance of 5m away from the lines, floats and Ras Ħanżir.

Ropes and floats may cause a physical obstruction and hence extreme caution is warranted.  Mariners are to comply with any instructions issued by Transport Malta, the Police and Armed Forces of Malta patrolling the area and by Valletta VTS (Valletta Port Control).

Resurfacing of Triq San Anard – Tarxien

Transport Malta will be resurfacing parts of Triq San Anard, Tarxien as from Monday 30th March.  Works are planned to continue until Thursday 2nd April 6:00am

These works will be carried out in phases, one lane at a time. All vehicular traffic coming from Triq tal-Barrani will be diverted or through Triq il-Palma to Triq il-Kbira and then to Triq id-Dejma or can be diverted to Triq tal-Ħotba and then to Triq Ħal-Tarxien to Bulebel Industrial Estate and to Triq id-Dejma. Vehicular traffic coming from Fgura will not be affected.

The road will then be closed completely for all traffic during the last phase which is expected to start late on Wednesday and finish early Thursday morning.

Public Transport

Public Transport Route 204 coming from Tarxien going towards Żabbar will divert from Triq il-Knisja by turning right onto Triq San Anard, turn left to Triq tal-Barrani and then turn left towards Żejtun through Vjal il-25 ta’ Novembru, then left to Triq Alfred Cachia Zammit and proceed straight through Triq taċ-Ċawsli to continue with the normal route towards Żabbar.

Public Transport Routes 206 and 210 coming from Tarxien going towards Żabbar will divert from Triq il-Knisja by turning right onto Triq San Anard, turn left to Triq tal-Barrani and then turn left towards Żejtun through Vjal il-25 ta’ Novembru, then left to Triq Alfred Cachia Zammit, serving the bus stops along this road and will turn around back with the next roundabout to continue the normal route towards Żejtun Terminus.

Public Transport Route 84 coming from Tarxien going towards Żabbar will divert from Triq il-Knisja by turning right onto Triq San Anard, turn left to Triq tal-Barrani and then turn left towards Żejtun through Vjal il-25 ta’ Novembru, then left to Triq Alfred Cachia Zammit, serving the bus stops along this road and will turn around back with the next roundabout to continue the normal route towards Żejtun centre.

The return route will not be affected.

Postponed:  The markings will be painted on Tuesday 31st March  because of the bad weather.

The public car park at Deep Water Quay Xatt l-Għassara tal-Għeneb in Marsa, near Valletta Waterfront, shall be closed to the public on Saturday 28th March 2015 between 08:00hrs and 17:00hrs, weather permitting.

Temporary Road Closure – Rabat

Triq Ġorġ Borg Olivier in Rabat, corner with Triq San Piju V will be closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday 28th March 2015 between 07:00hrs and 13:00hrs, due to construction works.

Vehicular traffic will be diverted onto the side roads. Public Transport proceeding to and from Ħad Dingli and Buskett will be diverted onto Triq Vjal il-Ħaddiem, Triq in-Nigret and Triq Għar Barka.

Power Boat Races in St. Paul’s Bay this weekend.

The Ports and Yachting Directorate of Transport Malta notifies mariners that boat races will be held in St. Paul’s Bay on Saturday 28th March and Sunday 29th March, weather permitting.

The races will be held between 08:00 and 18:00 local time.


Mariners are instructed not to cross the course during the mentioned dates and times.  They are indicated to give the course a wide berth.  Navigation within St. Paul’s Bay will be restricted during the race.  Mariners are to follow instructions given by Valletta VTS (Valletta Port Control) and support safety craft in the area.

Works on National Flood Relief Project continue

Ongoing works related to the National Flood Relief Project

Transport Malta notifies that works on phase 3 related to the National Flood Relief Project in Ħal Lija, will be continued on Friday 27th March 2015 from 09:30hrs onwards.  These works are scheduled to be completed within three days. 

In view of this, part of Triq il-Wied Ħal Balzan, from Triq Ġulju Cauchi to Triq Wiġi Muscat, will be closed to traffic. All vehicular traffic coming from Hal Balzan towards Mosta will be diverted onto Triq Ġulju Cauchi, onto Triq Dun Ġwann Żammit Hammet, onto Triq L-Għerusija onto Triq Wiġi Muscat, and proceed towards Iklin roundabout and onto Triq in-Naxxar.

Meanwhile works on phase 4 related to the National Flood Relief Project in Birkirkara, will be carried out between Friday 27th March 2015 from 09:30hrs and Thursday 02nd April 2015. Triq il-Mitħna will be closed to vehicular traffic due to excavation of culverts along the road. Triq in-Naxxar Brikirkara will be opened to traffic in both directions until further notice.

Motorists are advised to proceed with caution and to follow signage on site.

Annual Cycling International Tour

The Birkirkara St Joseph Club will be organising the annual Cycling International Tour in four stages as per below:

Stage 01 – 26th March – St. Paul’s By-pass

Individual time trial race over 25Km.

10:00hrs to 12:00hrs

One of the lanes from Xemxija to St. Paul’s Bay will be closed to traffic whilst the opposite lane will remain open.  All vehicles coming from Xemxija will be diverted onto Triq San Pawl, San Pawl il-Baħar.


Stage 02 – 27th March – San Martin

Race over 100km

10:00hrs to 13:00hrs

Triq San Martin Żebbiegh will be closed to traffic whilst Triq Għajn Tuffieħa will remain open to traffic.


Stage 03 – 28th March – Gozo

Race over 60Km

 10:00hrs to 13:00hrs

Triq ir-Rabat, between Triq tad-Duru and the roundabout will be closed to vehicular traffic. Vehicles proceeding to Nadur will be diverted onto Triq L-Imġarr.


Stage 04 – 29th March – Ta’ Pennellu

Race over 12Km

09:00hrs to 12:00hrs

All vehicular traffic will be diverted onto Triq il-Marfa Mellieħa. Access to Anchor Bay will be available from Għadira only.

Fly past on Sunday 29th March

Tiger-Moth

Transport Malta is supporting a fly past organised by the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association Malta, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism. The fly past with various types of aircraft is commemorating the 100 years of Aviation in Malta.

The formation will depart from Luqa Airport, fly over the Qrendi Airfield, proceed towards Ħal Far Airfield onto Ta’ Qali Airfield and eventually fly over the Gozo Heliport. These airfields, now disused, were operational at some point during these past one hundred years since the first plane flew over the Maltese Islands.   All these airfields played an important role in Maltese History, especially during the second world war.

After flying over the Gozo Heliport, the formation will route via the East Coast of Malta towards the Sliema Sea Front.

The public is invited to view the formation from:

– Ħal Far
– Ta’ Qali
– Gozo Heliport
– Sliema Sea Front, along Tower Road (Main Area)

Leading the flypast will be a restored 1930s Tiger Moth biplane followed by two microlights of the Island Microlight Club and 11 aircraft from aviation schools.

Bringing up the rear will be a Medavia Dash-8, a new AW-139 helicopter and a King Air, both of the AFM.

Dingli – Rabat 10 mile race

St. Patrick’s Athletic Club is organising a 10 mile racing event from Dingli to Rabat on Thursday 19th March 2015 between 08:30hrs and noon.


Transport Malta notifies that no road closures will take place however motorists are advised to proceed with
caution.
